Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, SUMA & Black Bone Exorcism

Tractor Tavern – Wednesday, January 20, 2016 – 8:00 PM

by Brandy Rettig

2015 saw the release of Brothers of the Sonic Cloth’s self-titled album from Neurot Recordings. The five monster tracks (and two bonus tracks) from this exquisitely intricate yet heavier than plutonium album deservedly found its way onto a good number of end of year favorite lists, including, but not limited to, The Obelisk, Metal Observer and even National Public Radio. The last time BOTSC played the Tractor Tavern was in July of 2015. Since that time, they’ve toured in support of Neurosis and played the Tucson based Southwest Terrorfest. The women and men of Brothers of the Sonic Cloth will take the stage at the Tractor Tavern On Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Make sure to catch them here and now in Seattle because they’ll quickly be headed to rattle the teeth out of the Netherlands’ skull in April when they play Roadburn 2016.

Not to be missed on this bill, the perfect complements in sound to BOTSC, are Swedish hallucinatory doom lords SUMA. Their hypnotizing 10-plus minute songs will bring you on a transformative journey through a maelstrom of time, space and mental anguish. Check out their 2010 release, ASHES to prepare yourself for the all-encompassing sensory explosion of SUMA.

Local Seattle/Olympia band, Black Bone Exorcism rounds out this lineup. Having formed in the summer of 2014, Black Bone Exorcism is the newest of the bands to play this evening. These guys have been spending their time really dialing in their dystopic sound and have just recorded their first full length recording (to be released soon) with none other than BOTSC’s Tad Doyle at Witch Ape Studio. They’ve played with Heiress, Great Falls, and Scott Kelly and the Road Home among others in their brief existence and will be a strong addition to this show.
