There is a growing group bands that exists on the most extreme fringes of extreme metal, where repugnant recording quality is standard, sheer brutality is valued above all else, and death and horror reign supreme. It’s absolutely abrasive, animalistic music, the kind that stirs a decidedly primal part of the soul. A group of three such bands will be bringing this foul pestilence to the stage at the Highline, on January 26th, and it’s going to rip.

Here’s a list of things you should know about Portland’s Weregoat, one of the three bands on the bill: Weregoat is bestial and nasty. Weregoat has more chains, bullets, spikes, nails, and bones than most bands. Weregoat sounds like mud and shrapnel and rabid dogs and viscera and decay. Weregoat is awesome.

They’ll be playing with Chapel, who power through blackened speed metal like a possessed version of Venom. It’s fun stuff, like the sleazy rock n’ roll the devil would pound a few cheap beers to. Lastly, Seattle metal mainstays Old Skin round out the bill, unleashing their creeping, black filth that settles heavily over the audience like an impenetrable mist.

So come to the Highline on the 26th. Let Satan give you a nice, big hug. Fill your lungs with machine-generated fog, poke your eye out on some gauntlets made of rusty nails, and let some more evil into the world. For seven bucks, it’s totally worth it. The black plague is upon us, and it sounds great.
