And now for a trip down memory lane: In 1990 I was kinda moving away from hardcore and getting more into the weird/heavy stuff that had been happening in Texas/Chicago/S.F. and around the local Seattle scene. I still loved it loud and fast, but was leaning more towards slow and dirty…

One band that I saw at both all ages shows and at drunken bar shows was The Derelicts. They did an amazing job of straddling the lines between punk and grunge. They were a band we could all agree on. The Derelicts were a part of the scene that spawned Zeke (along with Neil’s next band Zip Gun and their first drummer Tom’s new group Gas Huffer). I rock their Time to Fuck Up 7” from time to time and it still holds up. Straight up kick ass hardcore punk rock with a great singer that just wants to have fun and fuck shit up.

Guess what? They are having a reunion show! Not sure if they are getting back together for good so you shouldn’t miss this one.

Another stalwart band of that time was Last Gasp. They blend in my memory with other bands like Christ on a Crutch and Positive Greed because I saw them so many times at various punk venues around town. I can tell you their singer is as an amazing frontman and their guitar player is a badass. I know this because I’ve seen them since they got back together a few years ago and my brain isn’t quite as addled.

Rounding out the bill is the Tom Price Desert Classic (you know, from that band Gas Huffer?) and The Lucky Boys. Plan for a night of old punks (like me) reminiscing amongst young punks (like you?) about how these bands rocked your socks off!
