Folks that rely on the wonderful resource that is the Internet for their underground music needs may already be familiar with Seattle’s newest instrumental sludge metal band, Giza. The trio, who feature alumni from fellow instrumental group X Suns, have already recorded and released an E.P. entitled ‘Future Ruins’, and the music Blogspots have quickly picked up on the album, and spread it like wildfire. Having already shipped out numerous albums all over the world, and even making a few Top of 2012 lists, Giza will finally be performing their first live show this Wednesday at the Comet alongside Gladiators Eat Fire and Key of Solomon. While X Suns bask in a more delay-coated, post-rock feel, Giza prefers to let sludgy, discordant riffs build on top of each other, driving towards mountains of heavy groove, with a lot of valley in between the peaks to drive the heavier parts even further into the listener’s consciousness. The E.P. is one of those albums, that upon first listen, you can just imagine how incredibly loud the band must be in a live setting – and that’s precisely how this kind of thing is meant to be heard.
