Tonight‘s show at the Black Lodge is one of the best line-ups of locals this year. Sure, these bands aren’t making a rare appearance- most of them play out relativity often. What makes it work so well is that each band brings a different style of heavy music to the same bill. All involved are great folks, and at the top of their musical game. Since most all of you have probably seen these bands elsewhere over the last few years, here’s what’s going on currently for them.

Caligula will start things off after a few month breather while drummer Austin Hugill recovered from breaking his back in a motorcycle accident. The band is currently KISW’s Loud and Local band of the week, and are planning on recording some new songs eventually. However, their Tad Doyle recorded demo is available now at their bandcamp page.
Grenades will have a new cassette available tonight for this show. The release entitled Songs For Future Dogs is actually two taped live recordings, both recorded by Chris Matthews. One is from last year, the other is from 2011. The cassette is only 5 bucks and has a digital download as well.
Serial Hawk are returning home from a 4 week tour that took the trio as far as Buffalo, NY recently. Well received on the road, the band will release their new 7-inch for the track “Lying In Wait” from their upcoming full-length Searching For Light. More vocally focused then past Serial Hawk releases, “Lying in Wait” is still pure Serial Hawk, sludgy and loud, dominated by the riff. The 7-inch b-side is a 4 minute preview of the title track of the new record. These are hand numbered in a limited release of 250. Finally, Great Falls closes out the night, and will ensure you leave completely drained in the best way possible. The band is currently in the final mixing stages of their follow up to 2013’s Accidents Grotesque, easily one of that years best records. The new record should be released early next year, and their set tonight will comprise of mostly all new material. While I haven’t heard anything from the record, I can tell you that these new songs are absolutely devastating live, and well worth staying a little late for.
