White Center (Mac’s Triangle Pub, Company Bar & Full Tilt)
FREE
by Brandy Rettig
Jesse Lovell, owner of White Center’s Company Bar and guitarist for Perfect Bombs has done it again with this coming Saturday’s Rat City Recon. Year three of this annual White Center festival will feature ten bands at three dubsea venues—all within easy walking distance of each other and all FOR FREE! Warning: crazy shit happens at these Recon shows. Jesse’s own favorite Rat City Recon moment happened a few years ago when he “was watching Tacos! at Full Tilt right after Don had severely injured his hand in a table saw accident that same week. He duct taped a Casio keyboard to his guitar, ran it through his guitar amp and (while supporting the neck of his guitar with his bloody stump) played the keyboard with his good hand. Mike from Mico de Noche helped out on guitar and Lupe absolutely crushed on drums. Everyone in the room went nuts.”
This year’s line-up is looking beyond awesome. At Mac’s Triangle Pub: Blanco Bronco, 7-Year Old Blind Girl, and Mico de Noche. Just up the street on 16th Ave. S. at Company Bar, there’ll be Bürien, Drunk Dad, Don Peyote, and Erasehorse. Finally, at Full Tilt, the home of the best salted caramel ice cream in Seattle, you can see Gems, Joseph Giant and Darci Carlson.
Pro tip: Don’t miss out the first ever Company beer garden or on grabbing an exclusive Rat City Recon t-shirt (available at each of the venues while supplies last).
