Review by Pamela Sternin

Heiress have trekked down the mountain side bringing with them an album forged from the heaviest element known to man, fucking rock.  This album is like doing a swan dive into a tar pit. Within a single track malignantly serene solos are allowed to breathe free in between lead weighted cannonball chords with John Pettibone’s commanding vocals as instrument, not overbearing or front man like but blended and precisely portioned out.  That being said, every track on this album is well thought out and far from rushed.   The specter tone of their title track, Early Frost echos like a one ton bell into the haziest of canyons and leaves you lingering in anticipation for what tidal wave would come next.  The driving drums and saw blade riffage of Damaged New Wind will make you wanna rush into battle with both guns drawn.  A well produced album, not at all surprising being that it was recorded at Soundhouse Recording Studio by famed engineer Jack Endino who has a talented knack of delivering consistently burly recordings.  Early Frost rumbles from beginning to end but there’s certainly choice cuts that you’ll single out for the “set on repeat” treatment (Damaged New Wind, I’m looking your way).  Play this album loud or better yet see Heiress live to get the full experience of just how heavy rock music should be done.
