Nik and Brandy’s Birthday Barn Burner
Saturday, June 7th
Victory Lounge & Black Lodge
By Brandy Rettig
Nik Christofferson, owner of Good to Die Records, is giving me the best damn birthday present a gal could ask for: he’s sharing his birthday party with me! And this isn’t just any old-timey, hokey-pokey, pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey party folks—this is going to be one hell of a barn burner: two rad venues, six raucous bands and a fuck-ton of beer!
This Saturday night, June 7th, next door neighbors Black Lodge and Victory Lounge are going to shake the mirrored-sunglass-wearing rock climbers right off that plastic REI mountain when they host Blood Drugs, Haunted Horses, Monogamy Party, KINSKI, Deadkill and Sandrider. Yes, all of those bands are on this bill! Yes, four of them have tracks on the recently released Seattle Noise Volume 1 tee-shirt, er, record. Yes, one of them (Sandrider!) just rocked every pair of ‘nads at Sasquatch! And, sadly, one of them (the beloved, cacophonous Monogamy Party) will never be playing again. Ever, ever. Ever, EVER, ever.
Forget bringing presents; just bring your gorgeous self, your favorite coozie, and a pair of earplugs. I will warn you that although beer showers, silly string attacks, confetti blizzards, the compulsory wearing of terrible birthday hats, and the occasional airborne slice of birthday cake are not guaranteed to happen, it couldn’t hurt to be prepared for them just in case.
