Holy Grove w/ Serial Hawk (record release) Heiress, Witch Ripper

Substation Saturday August 31st

Unholy Hell this is a stacked line up! Three of Seattle’s gnarliest bands in one room supporting Portland’s Holy Grove? Amazing. Holy Grove has been turning heads since their self titled debut earned them a coveted spot at Psycho Las Vegas in 2016. Their last record “II” cemented their place on the map and in the pantheon of PNW doom metal. This is classic heavy done right.

The mighty Serial Hawk’s new album, Static Apnea, was just released this week and you should all make it out to Substation and celebrate with them this Saturday. I can tell you this new one is a monumental achievement and sure to be epic live. (See our review here) This is the first time the Hawk is appearing as a quartet, which makes a lot of sense considering the new material. We know that drummer Jason Bledsoe has the skills from seeing him play with his band Noise-A-Tron for so many years, but what will make it really interesting will be watching his brother Brock Bledsoe, who is the bass player in local abrasive rock band Pisswand, play guitar for them as well.

At a normal show their might be some up and comers opening gig but Heiress and Witch Ripper are also world-fucking-class and another two of our favorite Seattle bands. Heiress has a new album dropping soon and every outing of theirs so far has been epic. They have recently coalesced as a four piece after becoming tired of chasing down new rhythm guitarists. They remain heavy as hell.

Witch Ripper were recently seen opening up for mother-fucking Slipknot at KISW’s Pain in the Grass festival. I imagine many a fair weather metal fan found themselves banging their heads to Witch Ripper’s formerly underground music. Those of us in the scene know they totally deserve it. Well honed skills and ginormous tones are the order of the evening. Do yourself a favor: bring some earplugs and show up on time!
